
ARUN SOCIETY


Arun Art Society was founded many years ago and is a thriving group. Members' backgrounds
are varied, but they share a common interest in the visual arts and a passion for creating art.





PRACTICAL SESSIONS - INDOOR
Practical sessions are held from January to April, and September to December
every Wednesday morning from 10.00 am to 12.00 pm in the Club Room,
at Ferring Village Hall, Ferring Street, Ferring West Sussex BN12 5JP
Members pursue their own topics or follow a set theme.
An optional programme of untutored sessions, such as still life and portraiture,
is available for those choosing to work in the Griffin Room but use of the room is also flexible.
Members supply their own materials.
The annual subscription is £50. There is no additional session fee.
LIFE DRAWING SESSIONS
Life Classes are held from January to May, and September to December
every third Thursday of the month from 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm in the Club Room.
Timed short and long poses. The sessions are untutored
Life Drawing sessions are £8 per session and include refreshments. (Members only)
PRACTICAL SESSIONS - OUTDOOR
From May to August there is an outdoor programme when members meet at different locations,
usually within twenty miles of Ferring, on Wednesday mornings from around 9.30 am.
The venues include gardens, waterways, parks, village scenes, historic sites and grand houses.
DEMONSTRATIONS AND WORKSHOPS
These are held throughout the year, usually on a Saturday.
Both are led by professional artists who share their skills, knowledge and enthusiasm.
Demonstrations are free to members; the fee for non-members is £5. Workshops are priced individually.

EXHIBITIONS
The Society holds an Annual Exhibition in July.
In August this year members of
Arun Art Society held an exhibition
at The Montague Gallery,
Portland Road, Worthing,
entitled, 'What is the Spice of Life?'

As part of our partnership with Arundel Art Society, members have free access to each
other's demonstrations and some other arranged events.
Steve Carroll, a well-respected local artist and teacher, and previous winner of the
Worthing Open Art Competition, is the president of Arun Art Society.
